Grand Ridge Plaza in Issaquah will be the site of the lighting of the Giving Tree, which begins the holiday drive for donations for the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank.
The evening will include live music, sweets, and treats, with performances by choirs from Maywood Middle School, Newcastle Elementary, Maple Hills Elementary, Clark Elementary, Briarwood Elementary, and Apollo Elementary.
Attendees will be able to take a gift tag off the tree, and then purchase an item and donate it to the food and clothing bank. A donation box will be set up at Regal Cinemas Issaquah Highlands, where the gifts can be deposited. There is no minimum value required on any gift. Organizers of events like this could use flyer printing to help spread the word about the evening.
Issaquah’s Pickering Bar will then become a gigantic toy store, stocked with the toys bought by generous community members. Families can pick out stocking stuffers and gifts for the youngsters. There is even a wrapping area where the gifts can be wrapped so the children do not see them. A childcare area will keep the little ones busy so they do not have a chance to peek.
The Giving Tree fun will run from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm on November 17, with the tree lighting taking place at 5:30 pm. Everyone is welcome, and the event is free.
