The Rotary Club of Gig Harbor is in search of potential exchange students.
The organization sent out a call out to parents who believe they have nurtured remarkable young individuals destined for extraordinary futures. It is also eager to connect with young people who wish to enhance their educational experiences by spending a year studying in a foreign country under the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.
For over 30 years, Rotary Clubs have been supporting prosperous international youth exchanges. To be eligible, applicants should be 16 years old before September 30, 2024, and must not exceed the age of 19 come July 2025. This year's selection process will kick off in the summer, and there will be an information session on September 25.
The scholarship program offers value of over $25,000. The accepting Rotary Club takes care of the student's board and tuition, in addition to a monthly allowance. However, parents will be tasked with getting a passport, paying for travel, getting medical insurance, and taking care of any personal expenses that may come up. It is worth noting that the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor might be able to offer assistance with some of these expenses, depending on financial need and active participation in local community service.
