Runners will once again take on the scenic Tacoma Narrows Bridge during the 2025 Galloping Gertie race series, scheduled for August.
This annual event offers three race distances: a half marathon, a 5K, and a 10K. All races will provide expansive views of Mount Rainier, Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and the enveloping Tacoma and Gig Harbor areas.
The races are among the few that allow participants to traverse the full span of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The bridge structure, infamously nicknamed “Galloping Gertie” after its dramatic 1940 collapse, has become a symbol of engineering evolution and regional pride.
Each registered runner will obtain a commemorative finisher medal, a technical race shirt, and free access to downloadable event photos. Proceeds will benefit local charities, tying fitness to community support. Registration is open until 11:59 pm on July 31.
Attendees of events such as this one may be interested in obtaining information about the race route, and organizers may use brochure printing to give participants this information.
The event will take place on Saturday, August 2nd at Tacoma Narrows Airport, 1202 26th Avenue NW, Gig Harbor, Washington. The half marathon runs from 8 am to 12 pm and costs $11, the 10K from 8:15 am to 11 am at $81, and the 5K from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at $71. More details are available through the event listing.
