English artist Gary Numan in the Gig Harbor area as a part of his North American Intruder Tour. His performance will take place at the McMenamins Spanish Ballroom at the Elks Temple in Tacoma, Washington.
Numan is known as a pioneer in the electronic music world and has maintained a loyal cult following, despite the early vitriol he faced from critics. His signature sound is created by running heavy synthesizer hooks through guitar pedals. He is also known for his androgynous 'android' persona and unique voice. Prominent musical acts such as Nine Inch Nails, Fear Factory, and Marilyn Manson have all cited him as an influence.
He began his musical career as a part of the band as the Tubeway Army before becoming a solo artist. His single “Cars” from his debut album “The Pleasure Principle” reached No. 1 in the UK. From there, he released 20 solo albums. In total, he is said to have written and composed around 400 songs, selling over 10 million albums.
The show will take place at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30. The Elks Temple is located at 565 Broadway in Tacoma. Tickets will be $37 in advance and $42 on the day of the show for general seating. Organizers for events such as these may be interested in poster printing services for promotional purposes.
