Chalk Art Festival expands in Gig Harbor

Gig Harbor’s annual community arts festival, Chalk the Harbor, will return this August with a broader creative scope and deeper community engagement.

Traditionally centered on sidewalk chalk art along Harborview Drive, this year’s event includes live demonstrations, artist work, and interactive art stations.

Local and regional creators will present their work through live performances and demonstrations. These activities will be staged in outdoor spaces and inside participating waterfront businesses. Artists will have the opportunity to engage with visitors, promote their work, and make art in real time. Performance artists and musicians are also invited to participate.

The Gig Harbor Waterfront Alliance is currently accepting applications for advanced chalk artists, showcase and demonstration participants, and performing artists. Applications are due by June 1st.

The popular chalk competition remains a central feature. On the event day, participants can register from 9 am to 12 noon at Skansie Brothers Park or Donkey Creek Park. Free chalk will be available, though artists may bring their own materials. Completed works must be presented by 3 pm for judging in categories including youth, families, teens, adult individuals, and groups.

The festival is open to the public and free to attend. Sponsorship is provided partly by the City of Gig Harbor through its Creative Endeavor grant program.

Banner printing may be used by sponsors to highlight their brand at events such as this one.

Chalk the Harbor will occur on Saturday, 16th August, from 10 am - 5 pm at Gig Harbor’s Waterfront Business District in Gig Harbor, Washington.
