A multi-day event is coming up to celebrate history in Gig Harbor, as a local organization has scheduled an event that is a combined celebration and fundraiser.
The Harbor History Museum has scheduled its annual fundraiser, “History Rocks 2021!,” which also celebrates ten years in its permanent location on Harborview Drive. The party will be held at the museum and will feature good food, music, live and silent auctions, and an opportunity to acknowledge those who worked diligently to establish the facility.
Music will be provided by Seattle-based Jr. Cadillac. The band first got together about 50 years ago just to play their favorite tunes, but the idea got out of hand. They released their first LP “Jr. Cadillac is Back” in 1971 and haven’t stopped since.
The Harbor History Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, and share the area’s history so everyone can learn about Gig Harbor. Museum staff envision the facility becoming a gathering place for people to understand their community. They also offer educational programs to students, researchers, visitors, and residents. Perhaps one of its most unusual features is a completely restored one-room schoolhouse from 1893. Organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create pamphlets about their organization.
The fundraiser proper is set for September 18, but there is also a virtual auction beginning September 16. The doors to the fundraiser open at 5.00 pm, with the band performing at 7.30 pm.
