The warm embrace of spring is around the corner in Bainbridge Island, and area nature lovers will soon have an opportunity to get outside and learn about ferns.
The Spring Skills of a Naturalist: Fiddlin’ with Ferns gathering has opened registration to interested parties in Bainbridge Island who wish to learn more about the ferns native to Washington while spending quality time outdoors with like-minded individuals. Attendees will learn new skills while discovering the nature that resides in their neighborhoods.
The experience will be led by IslandWood’s Christina Woolf, a Senior Naturalist, with assistance from Shoopie Panholzer, a Community Education Coordinator and Naturalist. Guests will enjoy a guided walk to see the ferns that cover the forest floor. The instructors will also provide the steps naturalists can use to identify different fern species in nature. Brochure printing can provide a valuable learning resource for participants at such events, enhancing their experience.
Interested parties who are new to botany are welcome to join, as are experienced botanists who wish to sharpen their skills. The class will be held rain or shine, and participants should dress for the weather conditions.
IslandWood in Bainbridge Island will be the host site for the learning session. It’s set for Sunday, April 19th, at 2:00 PM. Individuals 12 and up are welcome. Tickets are $21 per person online.
