An flagging event that recurs periodically is once again scheduled for Aberdeen.
The Flagger Certification Class is a full-day course that follows the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) curriculum. Upon completing the course, graduates will be certified to work as a flagger, and will be placed on the National Flagger Database. The certification is valid in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington for a period of three years. When the certification is renewed, it will be renewed on the database as well.
Flaggers are vital components of any road crew, as they keep the workers safe. They set up proper warning devices and control traffic in the area where road work is being performed. Their efforts mean that the workers are safe, and the traffic keeps moving safely.
There are requirements to attend the class. First, students must arrive at 7.45 am or earlier, as no one will be admitted after 8.00 am. Second, students must achieve a score of 80% or higher to obtain their certification. If a student fails the test and wants to retake it, they must pay the full fee. A picture ID is required, and students must be at least 18 years old. Finally, everyone needs to pre-register.
The latest Flagger Certification Class is set for March 18 at 7.30 am, at the Schermer Building at Grays Harbor College. The fee is $75, including the certification cards and the course material, and is due at registration. Materials for training and educational events like this can often be created using brochure printing.
