Certification class offered in Aberdeen

A class that will give graduates an opportunity to find employment in several states is set for Aberdeen.

Flaggers are an important part of any road crew. Trained flaggers are able to create proper traffic control in a work zone. They keep highway workers safe and allow traffic to move consistently and safely. However, flaggers need to be certified to hold these positions, and a flagger certification class will help interested parties obtain the necessary credentials.

Once they have passed the course, flaggers can work in the states of Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, and will not need to be re-certified for three years. Print companies can help in creating instructional materials for events like this.

In order to take the class, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and have a picture ID. To be certified, the applicant must score at least 80% on the test. There must be at least ten students enrolled for the class to proceed. If an insufficient number enroll, students have the option of receiving a full refund, or moving to another class.

The full-day class will be held June 12 at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, starting at 7.45 am and running until 5.00 pm. Pre-registration is required, and no one will be admitted after 8.00 am. The fee for the class is $65, which includes the flagger certification card and book.
