An upcoming class in Aberdeen will provide attendees with basic skills in creating one of life’s most popular treats—coffee.
Grays Harbor College is hosting a Barista Basics class. The session is a hands-on, comprehensive course that will provide information on everything from brewing techniques to understanding coffee beans to how to create latte art. The class is for everyone, from those who want to become professional baristas to those who simply enjoy coffee and want to make delicious, professional-looking cups of coffee for themselves, family, and friends.
A barista (the word is Italian) is a person, most often someone who works in a coffeehouse, who makes and serves specialty coffee drinks with espresso coffee as the base. The popularity of specialty coffees has led to the creation of the World Barista Championship to find the world’s best coffee pro. The first contest was held in Monte Carlo in 2000.
The fee for the class is $50.00, and instruction will be provided by a coffee professional who is also an experienced trainer. Barista Basics will be held at the Culinary Arts Lab in the tulalW Student Center at Grays Harbor College. The college is at 1620 Edward P Smith Drive in Aberdeen. The class is set for May 17, from 10.00 am until 12.00 pm. When organizers plan events such as this, they often work with brochure printing to create course materials for students.
