Williamsburg to launch mobile book service

Williamsburg’s regional library will introduce a new Bookmobile in April.

The vehicle is another part of the library’s Mobile Library Services, which looks to provide resources in a compact and mobile format. The new Bookmobile will provide the library’s resources to Williamsburg residents. These resources include services, collections, and programs. In particular, the library looks to bring the Bookmobile to communities that do not have easy access to the library.

Funding for the vehicle was approved by the library’s board of trustees. A total of $164,460 was granted to assemble the Bookmobile with all its needed services and to decorate it with the library’s Logo Design.

The library has also fashioned the vehicle with new features to improve its services to users. One such feature is the Bookmobile’s retractable awning, providing better shade and room for displays. The awning will also help with new special events, including storytelling and craft activities for children. Other features include a backup camera, a PA system, and an air conditioning system.

The new Bookmobile is scheduled to begin its new services on Monday, April 5. For specific information on the service, interested parties can check the library’s website, where they can find schedules and upcoming events.

The library will also celebrate the new Bookmobile with several open house events, with the first happening tomorrow (March 27) and the last one on April 10.
