Williamsburg looking for resident to join economic board

The Williamsburg City Council recently announced it is looking for someone who lives in the city to join the Economic Development Authority (EDA) Board of Directors, where they will serve out an unexpired term.

The EDA’s board is comprises seven members, and the organization is independent of the city. The EDA’s mission is to bring new businesses to Williamsburg, help those that are already in operation, and use marketing techniques to ensure others see the city as a great place to open a business. In addition, the EDA tries to be aware of the concerns and needs of businesses in the city, and to ascertain and encourage the development of programs that will help boost Williamsburg’s economy. Officials in a situation like this could work with a flyer printing company to create a handout explaining the duties of the board.

The EDA meets monthly at 3:00 pm on the second Wednesday at the Williamsburg Stryker Center on Boundary Street. In addition to becoming a member of the board, the resident chosen will also serve on a subcommittee. Anyone interested in this position is asked to complete a Boards and Commissions application, and send it to the City Manager’s Office. The office is in the Municipal Building, at 401 Lafayette Street, Williamsburg, Virginia; ZIP 23185.

The term this person will fill does not expire until June 30, 2021.
