Student-run theatre company to move performance online

The Sinfonicron Light Opera Company will hold live performances over three days later this month.

The event is called SinfoniFest, and is open to those living in Williamsburg and surrounding areas.

The theater company was established in 1964 and consists of students attending the College of William and Mary. Each year, the company hosts SinfoniFest at a local theatre, but due to the COVID-19 situation, the event has shifted towards an online format. The company is promoting the event on the company’s website and social media, with the pages featuring more information and a simple graphic design detailing the performances.

Each day of the festival will feature a new performance by the company. The first day will feature a guest speaker as part of the company’s “Speaker Series.” The second day will continue the Speaker Series while also featuring a performance of the opera Thespis. The opera was written in the 19th Century by William Gilbert and is inspired by Greek mythology. The last day of the event will focus on a musical revue that will feature individual operatic performances by different students.

The performances will take place between January 29 and 31. Each performance will start at 7:30 PM and end around 9:30 PM. Admission for the whole event is free, and the performances will be livestreamed on Sinfonicron’s YouTube channel.
