Race to be held in Williamsburg

The Queens Lake 5K race will take place next month in Williamsburg.

This year’s event will mark the 27th year since the race was first held. Participants can sign up to either run or walk the event. Organizers have also prepared a 1 Mile Fun Run for children wanting to participate. After the races have finished, awards will be given out for each race category, along with the fastest overall female and male runners.

Runners will tread through a set path that starts in New Quarter Park and ends in Queen Lake’s residential area. The course is not particularly difficult, featuring flat asphalt roads and few turns. Banner printing is often used to support races like this so that runners do not get lost.

In compliance with Virginia’s COVID-19 policies, the race will be limited to 250 participants, with the race happening in waves of 25 runners. Organizers also ask that participants maintain social distancing and wear face masks before and after the run.

The event will take place on March 27th. The 5K race will take place between 9:00am and 10:15am, and the 1 Mile Fun Run will be between 8:30am and 8:50am. Registration is $25 for the 5K race and $10 for the fun run. All proceeds from the race go towards the Colonial Road Runners Scholarship Fund.
