John Plashal Photo is organizing an event that gives people the opportunity to tour a site from the past and take some pictures.
Presidents Park is a tourist attraction that was active from 2004 to 2010. The attraction featured 42 stone sculptures of previous US presidents, which today are mostly decaying and falling apart.
The tour guides will tell fascinating and little-known stories about the presidents, and guests will also get the see the mementoes that were placed. These include park signage, the original placards, and vintage images, along with an authentic dress worn by a first lady. Print shops can be used to help put up signage at parks.
Adult tickets will cost $23 for the morning show, $25 for midday tours, and $28 for the afternoon tour. The ticket prices vary according to time of day because of lighting. The Heads are lit from the back in the morning, which may be a problem for photographers, whereas the lighting is a lot more conducive to photography from around 1:00 pm.
The area around the Heads can be muddy sometimes, so patrons are encouraged to wear closed-toed shoes or boots. An email sent to registered patrons right before the tour will include updates on the expected weather conditions. Guests can choose to bring foldable chairs with them so that they can sit down during the speaking and trivia sessions.
The event will be held at the Presidents Heads in Williamsburg on June 25.
