Entrepreneurs have a chance to win cash, plus an opportunity to compete in a larger contest, if they succeed in a smaller pitch event.
Start Peninsula is the organizer of an upcoming micro-pitch, which will give inventors with an idea they want to present, or people launching a startup, a chance to win $500, and move on to a larger pitch competition in the style of “Shark Tank.” There will be four $500 winners at the micro-pitch, and three finalists at the major pitch competition, each of whom will receive $5,000.
The rules of the micro-pitch are simple. Applicants must pitch either a business idea, or a startup they want to put into operation. The ideas and concepts do not necessarily need to be technological in nature.
Each person, or team, will be given three minutes to make their pitch, and then will follow up with a three-minute question and answer session. Judges will choose the winners to move on to the November event. In order to receive their prizes, winners of the micro-pitch must also attend the event in November.
Everyone is welcome to watch the pitches, but only 15 teams will be taking part. They will have to apply first, and if approved, a $50 fee will be required to pitch. Spectators are not required to pay. An event like this provides an outstanding opportunity for attendees to exchange Business Cards.
