The Williamsburg Regional Library will be the home of a new teen space with interactive learning being funded by the Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation.
The grant is worth $20,000. The space will be set up in the James City County Library branch. The idea for the space was taken from the Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio that operates in the building and the new space will be the first one to operate under the regional system. Some of the features that will be found in the new space include a Nintendo Switch, virtual reality headsets, a magnetic poetry wall, collaborative workspaces, and a table for arcade games. Stationery printers can sometimes be found in public libraries.
Betsy Fowler, the Library Director, had this to say:
“Creating exciting relevant community spaces with a variety of learning experiences, collections, and opportunities for social connection for all ages is a priority for WRL. The Friends allow the library to dream big and turn these dreams into reality with their generous support.”
The Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library Foundation was created with the goal of supporting the Williamsburg Regional Library. The Foundation does this by raising funds and providing advocacy that will ensure the library is able to keep providing stellar services and access to high-quality library collections throughout the year. Since 2017, the foundation has donated almost $800,000 to the library’s causes.
