Jamestown event to focus on areas Indian heritage
The Jamestown Settlement, located at 2110 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, will host “Focused: A Century of Indian Resilience” early next month.
Billed as a special exhibition, the event will focus on the experience of local Indians, as well as discussing the repeal of the discriminatory Racial Integrity Act of 1924. This led to improved treatment for local Indians, as well as to state and federal recognition.
The event will feature photos and commentary for local historians, and more. Tickets are $18 for adults, $9 for kids, and free for anyone under the age of six.
While in Jamestown, participants also will have the opportunity to explore other aspects of the historical community. By visiting local shops and collecting business cards from local companies, individuals have the chance to see what other venue options may be appropriate for them and their families.
For more information, including specific questions about exhibits or options, interested attendees can call 757-253-4838. They may also wish to attend other historic Jamestown exhibits after they visit this event, especially since general admission to Jamestown Settlement is free to any residents of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County, including students of William & Mary College.
The event will repeat every day, running from Friday, February 4 to Friday, March 25, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
