A local tribute band is getting ready to play tricks on audiences in Williamsburg.
Get Trick'd, a Cheap Trick tribute band, is based in Richmond, and recreates the experience of going to a Cheap Trick concert down to the last detail. The group uses the same instruments as those played by Cheap Trick, perform their songs, and even impersonates the original band members.
Although they play classic Cheap Trick songs such as “I Want You to Want Me,” and “Dream Police,” they also go further into the band's extensive catalog, offering songs such as “Big Eyes,” and “Oh Candy.” If asked, Get Trick'd will perform the entire album “Live at Budokan,” which was the original band's breakthrough effort.
All the members of Get Trick'd are professional musicians who have been in other local bands. David Hunter plays a character named “Robin Zoolander,” in tribute to Robin Zander, Cheap Trick's lead guitarist and vocalist.
Cheap Trick's lead guitarist Rick Nielsen is impersonated by Tommy Pearson, who calls himself “T'rick Nielsen,” and bassist Tom Petersson is impersonated by Steve Wetzler, who identifies himself as “Tom Steversson.” Cheap Trick's original drummer Bun E. Carlos is copied to perfection by Mark Watts, calling himself “Mark E. Carlos.”
Get Trick'd will be at the Precarious Beer Hall on Friday, July 31st, with music starting at 9.00 pm. Flyer printing can be used to create advertising for events of this type.
