Williamsburg will be hosting An Occasion for the Arts (AOFTA) once again at the beginning of October.
The festival will feature over 150 artists from around the country representing just about every medium of art there is. Some of the popular pieces on display include Lisa Arkus’ nostalgic paintings and the leather designs of Bonnie and Marvin Bower. Printing services can be used to decorate booths at such festivals.
AOFTA feels that Martin Taber’s jewelry collection this year will be especially popular among alumni from the College of William & Mary because the silver cuff bracelet in his collection draws its inspiration from silversmiths in Williamsburg’s colonial period. AOFTA also confirmed that Taber was granted a license to create a bracelet that has the university’s monogram on it.
Children from local public and private schools have also been given the chance to display their latest works. Live entertainment for the evening will come from Fife & Drums, Williamsburg Youth Harp, and the Virginia Regional Ballet. The festival’s executive director, Robin Markowitz, announced that this year’s festival will see the return of the second stage.
An Occasion for the Arts will be a two-day affair on October 1 and October 2 in Merchant Square. Stalls and displays will be open from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. The organizers will also be selling tickets for a preview called “An Evening for the Arts”, which will be next Friday, September 30. Admission to the main festival is free.
