Virginia Beach event to salute military families

Military families have been referred to as the strength behind the uniform, and a special activity is on the way for those that call Virginia Beach home.

The organizers of the Military Family Festival and Resource Fair recognize the challenges faced by military spouses, children, and other family members. It will be targeted at those in the Hampton Road community, and there will be lots to see and do.

Attendees will be able to learn about community resources and other supports that may be helpful to them, and there will also be live entertainment. Crafting stations and games will be set up, and in keeping with the season, Halloween costumes are welcome, as there will be an opportunity to show them off in friendly competition. Admission is free for active duty members and their families, and the celebration is being organized by the Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Beach.

Due to frequent postings, field duty, training, deployments and other activities, military families may face challenges different to those on “civvy street.” A brochure printing company can prepare packages of information that may be helpful to anyone who is new to a community.

The Virginia Beach Convention Center will be welcoming this event planned with military families in mind on Sunday, October 27. It will be open from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
