Wiffle Ball tournament returns to Vienna

Vienna will welcome the 18th annual Northern Virginia Wiffle Ball World Series in a few weeks’ time, the winner of which is awarded the Bedell Cup.

All proceeds from this event go to benefit the 2 Young Foundation for brain cancer, with funds going towards research, public awareness, and support for patients and their families.

The Bedell Cup is named after Brian Bedell, who died of brain cancer in 2000, and the foundation was formed by his family and friends. A portion of the proceeds also go to the Children's National Medical Center. Last year's event raised $25,000 and it has raised almost $300,000 since its beginnings.

Wiffle ball is similar to baseball, but played with a plastic ball and bat. Anyone can register a five-person team in order to take part. All ages are welcomed and the tournament attracts hundreds of participants from all over Northenn Virginia each year.

This event is widely advertised throughout the surrounding area. Organizers likely get the help of Vienna printing companies to help with their advertising campaign, which probably includes Flyers - either distributed through Direct Mail or inserted into various local newspapers. Flyers are a quick and easy way of spreading information quickly and efficiently in the community.

The event will take place at Waters Field on August 3 from 8:00 am - 7:30 pm. Fees for participating are $240 per team. More information on how to participate can be found by visiting the official website.
