Vienna society to organize winter festival

The Vienna Wireless Society will be hosting a festival in March at Oakton High School.

The Vienna Wireless Society’s 47th Winterfest is a fair and tailgating session where fans of the same hobby can browse vendors related to their interests while meeting with other wireless radio lovers. This year, people can browse vendors such as Roger That Radio Parts, the Alexandria Radio Club, and the Sterling Park QSL Bureau.

Once the event is finished, new amateur radio equipment will be raffled off to those who attended the festival. There are many prizes available, including a digital transceiver, automatic antenna tuner, and antenna analyzer. People may also win Gift Certificates to Alpha Antenna and DX Engineering. The cost of general admission to the festival will include one raffle ticket.

Founded in 1963, the Vienna Wireless Society is a group consisting of about 280 licensed amateur radio operators. The organization is one of Northern Virginia’s largest amateur radio clubs. Groups that represent niche interests such as this may use flyer printing to inform people about their upcoming festivals and markets.

The festival will be held on Sunday, March 19 at 8:00 am. Tickets to the event will cost $15 at the door and $10 when purchased in advance. Those who want more raffle tickets can buy additional entries for $10. Vendors may pay $20 per table.
