Vienna residents will soon have an opportunity to drop off of items that may not be appropriate for the regular trash but can be repurposed or recycled, thus providing a “green” disposal option.
An assortment of items will be accepted during the day, including anti-freeze, vehicle batteries, used motor oil and electronics. According to the town, this event is not suitable for disposing of other hazardous materials such as paint, pesticides or other toxic chemicals. Computer monitors and televisions that use cathode ray tube technology will not be accepted either.
This service is being offered by the Vienna Department of Public Works with the assistance of Forever Green Recycle, Inc., which will find new uses for the electronic components. It is one of four days each year that the town hosts its quarterly recycling events, which take place in March, June, September and December. Direct Mail printing can be utilized to let the public know about special events such as this that will be taking place in their community.
The collection day will be held on March 4th from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Northside Property Yard, which is located at 600 Mill Street North East in Vienna. More information about what will and will not be accepted as well as contact details and other information has been made available on The Town of Vienna’s Website.
