Vienna will be organizing a community race in December to fight and spread awareness for type 1 diabetes (T1D).
The Countdown to None 5K is an athletic activity that all ages may attend. Those who intend to participate in the charitable race can choose the in-person or virtual option. The live version of the event will meet at the Red Caboose in Downtown Vienna and includes a post-race celebration with food and local beverages. Those who complete the race will receive finisher prizes. A portion of the event’s earnings will be used to research cures for T1D.
The organization benefiting from the 5K is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The group was founded in 1970 by parents whose children were diagnosed with T1D. Since its formation, the foundation has wished to improve lives by helping find ways to cure, prevent, and treat T1D. The organization has contributed about $2.5bn toward finding cures. People may help the group as volunteers during fundraising events and chapter meetings.
The in-person version of the 5K will be held on Saturday, December 31 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. People can pay $40 to join JDRF’s event, though the fees will increase after November 30. The virtual run will also cost $40 to enter. Foundations in charge of activities like this may use banner printing to promote their cause outdoors.
