For those who are interested in kites and kite flying, there will be several activities taking place in the Vienna area in the near future.

As part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC, which runs from March 20 - April 14, a Fly a Kite workshop will be held at the Corcoran Gallery of Art from 10:00 am - 12: 00 pm on March 23. Also in Washington on the same day, the ‘Kites of Asia Family Day’ will be held at the National Air and Space Museum from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. This is a free exhibit which will feature an Asian kite display, indoor kite flying, a make-your-own-kite workshop and various hands-on activities. For more information, call 202-633-1000.

In nearby Lorton, the ‘Kite festival: a celebration of spring’ will take place at Gunston Hall. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for those aged 6-18 and $2 for those aged 3-5, while a family pass is $25. Guests will have the opportunity to fly a kite, play 18th-century style games, watch kite flying demonstrations, climb a fire truck, and buy kites. To discover more, call 703-550-9220.

These events are a great way to be introduced to kite flying and to start off the spring season. No doubt they will attract people from all over the area, including nearby Vienna, and organizers will likely be working with local printing companies to spread the word about these fun events.
