The Urban Beader will be hosting a metalworking trunk show at Star’s Beads in Vienna, Virginia this March.
Those who are interested in a hands-on educational experience can come to Star’s Beads to participate in a course that teaches guests how to make jewelry. With the help of instructor Kieu Pham Gray, students will learn how to operate tools used in creating different kinds of jewelry, while having access to a variety of materials. There will be custom pieces that are sold during the event, and additional beads and tools will be available to purchase to bring home.
Gray has been working with jewelry for almost twenty years, selling her designs to stores throughout the United States. She and her husband run a website that artists can use as a resource for purchasing specialty goods. Not only has Gray been teaching courses at stores around the country, but she has also used printing services to publish a book detailing her methods of creating jewelry with and without the use of a torch.
The metalworking trunk show is a free demonstration that everyone is welcome to attend. Anybody who would like to participate in the course can register on the event’s webpage. Tools and materials will be provided for students taking the class. The show will begin on March 16th starting at 10:00 am and will continue on March 17th at 4:00 pm.
