Norfolk workshop to teach kids life skills

The Youth Ambassadors will hold a workshop for children in January at the Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch Library.

The Meal Prepping Made Easy Workshop is a program where kids can develop life and job skills. The event is part of the Youth Earn and Learn Jobs-for-Kids series. Children who take part in the course will get to enjoy samples.

The event is presented by the Norfolk Safety Advocacy Group, which is an organization that helps Norfolk residents by educating them about topics like homelessness and crime prevention. The group hosts monthly meetings and brings in special guest speakers like the Norfolk Chief of Police.

Youth Earn and Learn Jobs-For-Kids improves the lives of children and families by providing easy access to education, mentoring programs, and healthy food. The program combats food deserts in the community by offering fruit and vegetable delivery services and creating local gardens. The organization also has MOBILE Fresh Produce Stands that help people access healthier foods. The program was established in 2011.

The meal prep workshop will take place on Thursday, January 4 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Admission to the lesson is free for all children, though space is limited, so registration is required to attend. Those who hold instructional programs like this may rely on printing services to make advertisements they can place throughout their neighborhoods.
