Norfolk to hold baseball camp for local children

The Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation will organize an event where Norfolk youth can learn how to play baseball.

The Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation Baseball Camp is a one-day learning experience where kids can play baseball alongside experienced players. The program will give children an opportunity to work with baseball players from Maury High School. The lessons will go over important baseball skills, and participants will play a pick-up game. Officers from the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office will oversee the program. Breakfast and lunch will also be served to the campers.

Created in 2017, the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation is a nonprofit organization that aims to give back to the community and hold programs for all ages. Some of the outreach programs offered by the foundation include Camp HOPE Norfolk and Senior Fest: A Senior Support Services Seminar. The group also hosts sports camps over the summer that connect children with local coaches and players. The camps include sports like football and soccer.

The baseball camp will be held on Wednesday, June 17 at the Marty L. Miller Baseball Field. The lesson will take place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. There is no cost to take part in the program, though only Norfolk kids ages 8 to 12 can register for the camp. Local foundations that host sports events like this may depend on printing services to create ads for their camps.
