Norfolk walking tour to explore local history

The Hampton Roads Hikers will be organizing a walking trip around Norfolk in June to immerse people in the community’s history.

Norfolk Chronicles is a walking tour educating tourists about the history of the city’s riverfront. The experience will cover three miles, guiding attendees through locations such as the Freemason, Ghent, and Downtown boroughs. Guests will also learn about attractions like the Chrysler Museum of Art and Moses Myers House. Mike, a native of the city who has hosted more than 600 tours in the area, will be the guide.

The Hampton Roads Hikers is a friendly group with a shared love of socializing and the outdoors. The organization hosts several walking tours during the year, such as its NEON Contemporary Art District Tour and ViBe District Art Tour/Beer Tasting. Some trips utilize electric bikes to travel during the event. Membership to the group costs $17 per month. Businesses that organize educational treks like these can use poster printing to share the event with locals.

The Norfolk walking tour will be held on Tuesday, June 15 from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The group will meet at the Waterside Marina. Those interested in exploring the community with the Hampton Roads Hikers can pay $29 to join the trek. Other upcoming walking tours organized by the group can be seen on its website.
