Norfolk to hold stair climbing fundraiser

The Harbor Park Stadium in Norfolk will be hosting a fundraiser in May to raise money for The Up Center’s Family Promise Fund.

Step Up for The Up Center is a unique fundraiser where people can climb up and down the steps of the Harbor Park Stadium instead of running or walking a track. The fundraising activity will occur in rainy or sunny weather, and the event will be timed. The organizers of the charitable program have raised about $520,000 for The Up Center’s Family Promise Fund since the fundraiser was created. All proceeds will benefit those with disabilities who live throughout Hampton Roads.

The Up Center is an organization that offers many kinds of support services to the community. A few of the programs provided by the group include mental health counseling, foster care, and parenting education. The organization was initially known as the Norfolk United Charities when it was first formed in 1883. The President of The Up Center is Tina Gill, and the group’s Chief Financial Officer is Joan Weaver. People can help the center by volunteering for duties like supporting the front desk.

The stair climbing fundraiser will be on Saturday, May 13th from 9:00 am to noon. The cost to participate in the event is $40 per person, and each registrant must be at least eight years old. Organizers for charity programs like this may use flyer printing to market the fundraiser to local consumers.
