Norfolk museum to bring back handmade festival

The Hermitage Museum and Gardens will organize a festival in Norfolk where local crafters and artists can showcase their wares.

The Hermitage Handmade Festival is an annual experience that invites people to browse stalls from more than 85 artists. The fest also features entertainment by Peep the DJ, and visitors will get to explore the Hermitage Museum and Sloane Collection with a guide. Scavenger hunts for children will also be held at the festival. Attendees can purchase food and snacks from vendors such as Hades Wood Fired Oven, Yolees’ G-Dawgz, and Joysicles.

Those who attend the fest will get to enter the Roberto Lugo: Pottery with Purpose exhibition for free. Lugo is a ceramic artist and educator who founded the Village Potter organization. He teaches ceramics at the Tyler School of Art and has had residencies at the Penland School of Craft and Baltimore Clayworks. The Lil Truck of Tools will be attending the event and will help people create magnets inspired by the works of Roberto Lugo.

The handmade festival will be held on Saturday, September 17 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Shoppers do not need to register to attend the Hermitage Museum’s fest, and no payment is required to browse the artist’s booths. Vendors who take part in fests similar to this may bring promotional Pens to share with customers.
