The Tidewater Area Orff Chapter will be giving a lesson at the Diehn Center for the Performing Arts in Norfolk.
Project-Based Learning and Orff Schulwerk: A Perfect Match! is a course for instructors who teach General Music classes. The program helps professors improve their approach to teaching by showing them how to make their lessons feel relevant, lasting, and impactful. Attendees will discover how to incorporate real-world scenarios and project-based learning into their curriculums. Teachers will also learn how to ask evocative questions and utilize Orff-Schulwerk teaching processes.
The instructor for the course will be Russell Nadel, a Middle School Music Specialist who works at The Potomac School in McLean. He earned multiple degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and has also won several composition prizes. Another accomplishment of Nadel is serving as the president of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association’s Middle Atlantic Chapter. He frequently holds developmental workshops for public school districts throughout the country.
The course will be held on Saturday, January 28 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Those who are not members of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association can pay $40 to attend the workshop, and members of the group may participate in the class for $30. Organizations that offer lectures to professionals such as this may use Print shops to promote their courses to members.
