Wegmans sets Tysons store opening for November

A new food purchasing option will become available to McLean residents when Wegmans opens its new store next month.

Less than three miles from McLean, at the Capital One Center campus located in Tysons, an 80,000-square-foot fully loaded supermarket will open. In addition to groceries, the store will also feature a Market Café that includes both indoor and outdoor seating, and a casual restaurant counter called The Burger Bar that will serve burgers, shakes, soups, sandwiches and salads.

Wegmans is looking to fill 150 positions for the store, which will have a total of over 400 employees. Applications can be filled out online. Weekly interviews will be conducted virtually by hiring teams on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Some full-time customer service openings are available, but most of the open positions will be part-time and include cooks, food production, cashiers, and stocking opportunities.

While a new business will bring competition to its rivals, it will also benefit other local businesses such as Print shops, which can be used for ad printing.

The new Wegmans store will open at 9:00 am November 4 in the Capital One Center campus, which is in proximity to the McLean Metro. The mixed-use development is not finished; the new headquarters building for Capital One is open, but the Capital One Hall, a venue for events and a performing arts center, will not open until Fall 2021.
