A cultural festival will be coming to McLean this spring, providing area residents with Hungarian ancestry to explore the culture of their forbearers.
The 5th Hungarian Heritage Festival has announced an official date for next month’s celebration, allowing area residents who wish to explore their ancestry or learn about a new culture to add the event to their agenda. This year’s celebration will feature a special guest, with the Flaska Banda musical group traveling all the way from Hungary to perform at the festival.
Flaska Banda will perform their energetic brand of folk music, giving attendees a taste of the music native to the Central European nation. Guests are encouraged to dance and clap along to their songs between sampling traditional Hungarian foods and refreshments. Banner printing provides such festivals with a colorful way to welcome visitors and promote the event to passersby.
Dishes like Goulash, Dobos Cake, Palacsinta, and Langos will be available, bringing new flavors to the palate. A Hungarian market will also be held, allowing vendors to share folk art, jewelry, and other gifts. Children who attend will find many fun activities at the festival’s craft stations.
The festival will be held at the St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church in McLean. Additional parking will be available at St. John’s Episcopal Church. The festival is set for Saturday, April 25th, at noon. Tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door.
