Following a storm of requests, the Fairfax County Park Authority is undertaking a feasibility study to identify parks where new pickleball facilities can be placed, and which existing ones to improve upon.
It would appear that pickleball fever has been sweeping Fairfax County, and those in McLean who have succumbed to this “malady” will be happy to know that relief is on the way. A study that commenced in the middle of 2019 will be finished this spring, and the park authority will use it to come up with a plan to equitably handle pickleball requests.
Other information gleaned from the study will help with developing siting criteria and creating a plan for site selection, as well as feasibility analysis. Bringing together a large enough group to create a tournament for any sport is usually made much easier with the assistance of a flyer printing service.
In late 2020, research was conducted, stakeholder meetings were held, and a public survey was developed. This spring, public meetings will take place and the final plan is revised.
Pickleball enthusiasts will be pleased to know that Fairfax County contains almost 30 outdoor courts that can be used for pickleball in addition to those found in RECenters.
