The Positive Discipline Workshop series is coming to McLean, beginning this January. This is a four-part event that takes place weekly and is presented by Parenting Playgroups.
Each workshop is two hours long and is led by Dr. Rene Hackney. The series is aimed at parents with children between the ages of 1 and 10. Parents who attend will learn all about positive discipline, including what behaviors to expect from at each age, how to teach their children to express emotions, the importance of being consistent with discipline, and teaching children about the consequences of their actions.
In addition to the parenting series, Parenting Playgroup also provides workshops for teachers and social workers, and offers consulting for parents on a one-to-one basis.
No doubt many parents in the McLean area will want to attend this Wednesday evening series. Those attending will probably receive printed handouts to take away with them, which may have been provided by local Stationery printers.
The Positive Discipline Workshop will be held at the Country Day School on January 28, February 5, 12, and 19 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm each week. The fees are $120 per person or $200 for both parents to attend.
