Mediterranean eatery to open near McLean

Agora, a Dupont Circle restaurant, is opening a second location this month in Tysons, less than three miles from McLean.

A specific date has not been made public for its opening; however, the new Agora will be located at 7911 Westpark Drive. Agora serves Greek, Lebanese, Turkish, and other assorted Mediterranean favorites. The restaurant’s name comes from ancient Greek and translates to “gathering place”. Banner printing is one way new restaurants often promote their opening.

The Dupont Circle location has been in operation for almost 10 years and features fare such as grilled octopus, kibbeh nayeh (a raw meat dish), and braised short ribs. An array of drinks will be available from rose liqueur and anise-flavored raki, to a beer and wine list that includes breweries and vineyards from around the DC area, as well as the Mediterranean.

Agora Chef Ghassan Jarrouj, issued a statement in which he enthused about the vibrancy of this Northern Virginia area, and excitement at becoming part of it.

Located on the Nouvelle building’s ground floor, Agora Tyson will contain 4,000 square feet that includes a mezzanine level, custom brick oven, a charcoal grill, and a 12-seat chef’s bar overlooking the kitchen.

Immediately upon opening, the restaurant’s dinner and late-night Menus will be offered. It will be approximately a year before its lunch and brunch menus will be available.
