McLean Community Center to host educational craft fair

The McClean Community Center (MCC) will be running “My First Craft Fair” over the summer.

As the name implies, this event is about more than just selling arts products. The event is specifically geared towards kids ages 9 to13 and will be oriented around helping them learn the basics of entrepreneurialism.

Kids will create their own craft projects, also learning about a variety of business elements related to being a small business owner. In doing so, they will “buy” their own supplies, create appealing advertising, and learn how to market. After “selling” their crafts, kids will learn how to calculate profit, budget, and increase their margins. The entire camp is oriented around helping kids not only become more artistically oriented, but figure out how to learn elements of business that may help them later in life.

This summer activity runs every Saturday, starting on June 22 and ending on August 10, held from 10:15 am to 11:15 am. The one exception is Saturday, July 6, which will be skipped. The cost is $129 or $117 for MCC residents. Registration is required, and can be done online.

This is one of many summer activities offered by the MCC. Located at 1234 Ingleside Ave., it is open during normal business hours. Residents are encouraged to call or stop by, pick up Promotional Products, and learn more about what is going on there.
