McLean Community Center to host 5K run

The McLean Community Center – one of the largest community spaces in McLean, Virginia – has announced a 5K run this year.

According to officials, the event proceeds will benefit the community center, and give local runners a chance to get together, meet new friends, and support the community.

The route itself will run through the heart of McLean, with streets closed to traffic, allowing runners and onlookers to check out the parade route. The race is USATF certified, meaning runners can complete this race in the knowledge that they are using a professionally certified course.

There is still a need for sponsors and volunteers. Sponsorship comes with a chance to promote a business, with banner printing an option to flaunt a logo during the race. Sponsors already secured include Century 21 New Millenium and the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce.

The event takes place on Saturday, October 7. Warmup for the event starts at 7:00am, with the race itself starting at 8:00am. The prizes, community recognition for the winners, and more will be announced closer to the date.

The race begins at 6631 Old Dominion Dr, McLean, VA, 22101. There is to be no delay for weather, so runners should dress appropriately, and come prepared to run in rain or shine. As always, there will be multiple divisions for running, walking, and participants of all ages.
