Free skate event brings special needs youth together in McLean
Two Washington Capitals players are planning a hockey and skating event to provide a memorable experience to McLean youth with special needs.
The 2024 Capitals Skate with Dowd’s Crowd and Lindy’s Lineup is set to welcome area youth for skating and a unique hockey experience. Capitals players Charlie Lindgren and Nic Dowd will pair up with So Kids SOAR to bring the youngsters together for a free skate. Attendees with no skating or hockey experience will have access to sleds to ensure inclusivity and fun for all.
SKS, a local non-profit, aims to bring children with disabilities together to enjoy and explore sports and other activities. Banner printing is a warm and memorable way to welcome attendees and registered guests to such events. The clinic is open to children and young adults from ages 4 to 30 with any type of disability. Instructors and equipment will be provided to all attendees.
The experience is limited to 10 spots, and interested parties are advised to make reservations while they remain. Parents and guardians are asked to bring any gear available from home.
The free skate will be held at the MedStar Capitals IcePlex on Wednesday, December 4, starting at 11:30 AM and ending at 1:30 PM. Registration is free for all participants with disabilities, and guests can RSVP online.
