Since its founding by the County in 2018, the Made in Fairfax program has grown to a network of more than 125 local businesses. The logo will provide a way for McLean businesses and those throughout the county to promote their goods as being locally produced. The board believes that by advertising products as being made in Fairfax it will shine a spotlight on the businesses exposing them to tourists as well as locals.
Individuals as well as businesses may request Stationery printers to include the logo of organizations with which they are associated.
Daniel Storck, Mount Vernon district supervisor, was quoted by WDVM as saying:
“The future, in terms of “Made in Fairfax” is something that’s distinctive, something that differentiates us, something that you can’t easily buy from somewhere else in the world and that I think is clearly the value of what we’re doing and why this is important.”
To be part of the “Made in Fairfax” program county businesses must submit an application. Fairfax County is putting together a directory that consumers can browse through online to promote County-based small scale production and locally sourced or made products.
