The Chocolate Lover's Festival will take place over two days in early February. The event is presented by several local organizations, including the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Fairfax Merchants Association.
This festival has been named as one of the Best Food Festivals in the Northern Region.
There will be events taking place at various locations in the downtown area. The Taste of Chocolate at the Old Town Hall will have samples of cakes, candies, brownies, and other treats. Guests buy "pogs" for $1 each that allow them to purchase items.
Another event will be the Chocolate Challenge at the Nutrition Kitchen. Admission is $1 and there will be a silent auction, celebrity judges, and the choosing of the People's Choice award. There are both amateur and professional categories for cupcakes, cakes, and sculpture. The judges will choose the Best of Taste. Applications for the contest will be accepted until February 3.
Other activities around town will include face painting, musical entertainment, puppet shows and a showing of the 1971 film ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’.
No doubt people from all over the county, including McLean, will be willing to take a trip to enjoy this festival. Organizers may invest in flyer printing to spread the word.
