Exhibition to highlight choice ceramics

The 4th annual Workhouse Clay National Ceramics Exhibition will be taking place from August until September in Lorton.

The exhibition showcases contemporary ceramics created by artists from all over the United States. More than 500 pieces were submitted for consideration right up until June of this year, and those chosen were picked by Richard Notkin, who eventually settled on 54 for exhibition. According to Notkin, the majority of the pieces he chose were from up and coming artists who are new to ceramics.

An opening reception is planned for August 9 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Guests will no doubt have a chance to view the exhibition and ask questions of the judge. It will provide an opportunity for them to understand the ceramic art form and view the work of some of the leading artists in the country.

No doubt this exhibit will attract visitors from all over the area, including McLean. Local printing companies may provide marketing materials such as Flyers to help spread the word in the community.

The exhibition is showing at the Workhouse Arts Center in the McGuire Woods Gallery from August 2 until September 7. Admission to the gallery is free. The Center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm. Call 703-584-2900 to find out more about this event.
