Derby event will raise funds for mental health

The Raising the Stakes for Hope and Recovery Benefit will take place next month in nearby Vienna. It is a fundraiser for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, Inc. (PRS).

The main draw for this event will be the broadcasting of the 142nd Kentucky Derby horse race. Guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, mint juleps, and mocktails while they watch the race. They will also have the opportunity to bid on live and silent auctions. Some of the items up for bid are self-pampering packages, travel, restaurant meals, and tickets for sporting events.

Sponsorships are available for purchase from $500 up to $15,000. Sponsors will be recognized in advertisements in the event program and on event signage, and they will also receive tickets to the benefit.

PRS, Inc. offers help to those who have suffered from a mental illness. The organization provides day programs, employment services and community housing. It also promotes recovery, wellness, safety, and community.

Organizers have likely been in touch with a printer in the Vienna or McLean area to produce the event program that all guests will receive.

The Raising the Stakes for Hope and Recover Benefit will be held at the Tower Club on May 7 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. Tickets are $150 each. To learn more about this event, or to become a sponsor, contact Meredith Hovan at 703-531-6321.
