The 2015 Book Club Conference is taking place next month in nearby Fairfax.
The conference is aimed at those who would like to learn more about starting or running a successful book club. The day will consist of speakers, meals, workshops and networking opportunities.
The day will begin with a light breakfast, which will be followed by the keynote address from author Celeste Ng. Other authors who are speaking are Jason Merkoski, Amanda Holmes Duffy and Art Taylor. After the keynote, attendees will have the chance to purchase some Books and have them signed by the authors. Next will be a choice of one out of three workshops; topics will include the future of book clubs and reading, how to read the classics and how to run a successful book club.
After a free lunch, participants can choose between the same workshops as the morning session.
Book clubs are quite popular and no doubt this conference will attract participants from all over the county, including McLean. To help advertise, organizers might invest in poster or flyer printing services.
The Book Club Conference is set to take place at the Fairfax County Government Center on September 19 from 9:00 AM - 1:45 PM. Admission is free, but those wishing to attend must book in advance; registration opens on August 22. To learn more about the conference, call 703-324-8428.
