The town of Herndon will be getting new apartments and retail space in its downtown area, according to a unanimous vote by the Town Council in late October.
Comstock Herndon Venture will be taking five acres of land currently owned by the town and redeveloping it into a mixed-use project.
An ordinance allowing Comstock to purchase the land from Herndon was also approved by the Council. Overall, the current plans include building 281 new apartments, developing 17,600 square feet into retail space, and also creating an Arts Center that will span 18,000 square feet. The complex will also have a parking garage with 761 spaces.
In a statement, Mayor Lisa Merkel, said that this development would revitalize Herndon’s downtown area and solidify the town’s place as a modern community where both history and heritage are honored.
When creating a new development, many businesses choose to work with printing companies to create various items to showcase their work and create excitement. This can include banner and brochure printing.
The development will be situated between the W&OD trail, Elden Street, Center Street, and Station Street. Comstock will begin designing the project next, and once the design is completed, it will be reviewed and approved by the council. Construction could then begin as soon as 2019, with hopes for the project being completed in 2021.
