Spring cleanup time has arrived in Herndon, and the town is hoping that everyone will use the opportunity to tidy up indoors and out.
The community has organized a day for both shredding unwanted documents and cleaning up a local park and waterway. The shredding section, which is free of charge, is open to all. People can bring up to five containers of material for disposal, and all grades of office paper will be accepted. Metal clips and staples do not need to be removed first, but items like newspaper, binders, electronic storage media, and larger metallic and plastic objects will not be permitted.
For the park and stream cleanup, the public is asked to gather at the entrance to Runnymede Park, and is reminded to dress appropriately for the job with the likes of gloves and sturdy footwear. Those who plan on lending a hand are encouraged to volunteer as a group, and the time can be used for youth community service hours. Those who organize event like this can use Direct Mail printing to create notices about the functions, which can be sent to all the households in the local area and help to ensure both activities are well attended.
The spring cleanup and shred have been planned for April 1 in Runnymede Park, starting at 9:00 am. Anyone who requires additional information is asked to contact 703-435-6800, extension 2014 or to visit the event website.
