March events to help put the winter behind

  • 2018-02-09
There are two events taking place next month in Herndon that will help residents get the cobwebs out after a long winter and enjoy the outdoors.

The first is the Kids Trout Fishing Derby for children between the ages of 2 and 15. All of the participants must be accompanied by an adult and anyone over the age of 16 who fishes requires a license. Fishing poles and bait will be available while supplies last. Fishing lessons will also be provided on site. Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 on the day of the derby.

The next day, the 5th annual Ice Breaker 5K will take place along the Sugarland Run Trail. The run is open to everyone from the age of four and up. The first 200 who register will receive long-sleeved T-Shirts. The run will start and finish at the Northwest Federal Credit Union. Packets can be picked up the day before at the Herndon Community Center. Registration fees are $20 in advance and $30 on the day of the run.

Official T-shirts for this sort of event are often provided by Herndon graphic design professionals.

The Kids Trout Fishing Derby will begin at the Herndon Police Station on Sugarland Run Trail on March 10 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon.

The Ice Breaker 5K will take place on March 11 beginning at 8:00 AM.
