Local organization reaches milestone for money raised and granted

At a recent event in Herndon, The Giving Circle of HOPE (GCH) awarded $56K in grant money, which met a milestone of $1m provided by the organization in grants.

Founding member of GCH, Linda Strup, was eager to share her excitement about the milestone, along with the pride the organization shares in being able to change lives of those who are provided the grant money.

The money is granted to help support small non-profit organizations, and this year’s grants were shared by eight such organizations including Women Giving Back for their Transportation Project and NAMI Nova for Peer Support of Youth and Adults who live with mental health conditions.

The organization raises funds for the grants through individual contributions. The organization also solicits volunteers to help support events. Local businesses could help GCH by calling for donations from employees and customers as well. Promoting awareness could easily be achieved by hanging Flyers highlighting the efforts of GCH, as well as the nonprofits that have benefited from the grants, to raise awareness of local organizations in need.

GCH, which was founded in 2004, has goals that include supporting the community, educating and increasing awareness of agencies needing support, and promoting volunteerism. Prior to this year’s grants, the organization has provided approximately 125 grants to just over 50 nonprofit agencies in the Northern Virginia area. Diana Katz, another founding member, says the organization is continually looking forward to seeing what comes next.
